Hello, my name is Stryker and welcome to the Zombie Source Code…
I am not sure why I started this diary except to get the message out about Zombies. So since there is no true rhyme or reason to the pattern of the diary yet. We will start with, “When I met my first Zombie(s)…”
I met my first Zombie at a cemetery. I was visiting an old friend who had died in the war with me. In fact his body, which was in the way of the shrapnel, was what saved my life. So I felt that I owed him a visit on a regular basis after my tour of duty was over. It was during one of these visits that I met my first Zombie…
I can honestly tell you that I do not get scared easy so I do not panic and that is why I am still alive after all the fighting that I have seen and been through. I also have an inner sense that protects me in moments of trouble. It is those things about me that saved me once again. I just turned my head just out of the way of a swiping claw, that I felt coming my way and stepped quickly back to watch a very disgusting looking humanoid creature stumble and fall at my feet. It fell right on top my friends grave. Instinct took over and I looked around to see if anything else was about. Yes – There was! About 100 meters away near a clump of trees in the distance, was another lurking figure. I kept that knowledge in my memory for future reference and turned my attention back to the wiggling mass of crud at my feet…
I realized it was trying to get up and that it was a decayed body. I have seen plenty of decayed bodies but none of them ever tried to get up from the ground…
I put my boot on the back of its neck and shoved it back to the ground face down. I then took stock of the “other thing” in the trees and realized that it was starting to slowly coming toward me. Very quiet and like a slow turtle it shuffled my way. I stomped all 300 lbs down on the neck of the creature that I was standing on. The neck cracked like a dry twig and the head separated from the body. But the spinal cord was still attached and the thing was not dead just incapacitated. I turned toward the slowly moving humanoid figure that was sighted on me and scanned the territory around me looking for a weapon. I saw a broken shovel handle near a newly dug grave. I walked over and saw that down in the newly dug hole that it looked like someone had come out from the grave next to it. I looked at the head stone and it said Gertrude born 1910, died 2001. I said out loud, “Gertrude” and the thing on the ground exploded with activity whipping its head back and forth. It tried to get up again but the head ripped off completely and that ended its existence. Well I guess that was Gertrude…
Then I realized that even though the other one was very slow, it had reached me and I could hear a hissing noise as it tried to pump air in and out of its dried lungs…
I looked at it closely and realized that it was literally harmless. It had no lower jaw, one arm was missing, a leg was dragging behind it and it only had one eye. I smacked it with the shovel handle and it fell into the open grave. It wiggled on the bottom as I decided what to do. I looked at the head stone that was already in place at the head of the grave. It said, Robert Wilkes. I said softly, “Sorry Robert” and walked behind the standing head stone and pushed it into the open grave. With a satisfying splat and crack. The thing at the bottom of the hole was suddenly very still…
I looked around for anyone else and contemplated about what happened, while I studied my surroundings for more issues. Having found nothing to get excited about, I sat on a big head stone and did some thinking’s. I just wished I had a cup of coffee, because I do my best thinking’s with coffee. It was at that moment that I realized that I had just killed two Zombies…
I then realized that this looked like I was trying to steal bodies and decided to get out of there and go home. No one would believe me and truthfully I did not believe myself either. So I took the handle of the shovel and walked back to my car. I decided to stop at the local coffee shop and get a coffee. It seems that I needed a coffee right now… 🙂
This was many many years ago and it was the first time that I had seen something like that. It was not the last time, because once you have seen one (Zombie) it will seem like the saying, “When it rains it pours!” becomes a fact. Then Zombies seem to be everywhere. I never heard a word about this incident in the news and you will come to realize that you will never hear about these incidences. I have also decided that most humans ignore so much around them that they never stop to notice that Zombies are all around them, all the time. If a Zombie was fast and intelligent then we would be in trouble. Also if wild animals did not like hunt them and pick their bones clean, then we would have many many more around…
These are all issues that are changing and will be addressed as I continue my writings…
