The Noise Deep in the Old Power Plant… (Part 2)

*** Well that is it for today, I have got to go change some bandages on Dogg and I. Also Ben said it is time to eat. So I will finish the story tomorrow or the next day… ***

Okay it has been a few days! I won’t apologize but I will tell you what happened…

Simple terms we got our “butts royally kicked” and are lucky to be here right now. Long terms, let me tell you a story in several parts…

Ending of the last post was “That is when we heard a scraping noise and Dogg let out his Zombie killing growl. I could see his titanium fangs glinting in the light…” That was actually the start of the good times and they got worse from there ever after…

We followed the scraping noise down the left tunnel, as it was obvious that we could not go back the way we came, due to the hatch being mysteriously closed on us. Dogg was sniffing the air and Ben was whining about being scared (Like a Zombie gets scared?) and I was not exactly a happy camper at the terrible noise that we seemed to be getting closer too. It was obvious that this was the noise that we could hear upstairs in the Power plant main building. It just groaned and scrapped and moaned something terrible. We started to hear another noise also and it sounded like running water…

We rounded a bend in the tunnel and came directly upon a underground stream that was flowing at a tremendous pace and we walked along the edge of this huge tunnel with a stream in its floor. Then we saw the noise, it was a huge water powered generator that was locked in place by huge rusty chains and could not move. It was groaning and moaning at the chains that held it from turning. The scraping noise was debris being torn to bits by the force of the water as smashed things against the turbine of the generator that could not move. I looked at my ceramic machete in my hands and for some reason that did not include sanity! Swung the blade as hard as I could at the chains…

The ceramic blade was damn sharp as it severed the first set of chains. Ben screamed at me as if I was a crazy fool and he grabbed Dogg and ran back the way we had come…

I cut a second chain and a third snapped on its own. Then I cut one more and the turbine spun a few feet. I was going to release this turbine and see what would happen. I just knew this was important…

There was about 5 more chains and I severed another one and with that one the force of the water took over and finished the job. The turbine swung freely and built speed like a mad hornet after you tried to smack him…

I backed up and heard groaning and moaning from the bearings of the giant turbine and then I heard the crackling and popping of electricity. Then lights all over the place came on. The place was lit up like a Christmas tree…

The turbine spun faster and faster and it started to create a wind tunnel along with the flowing water. All kinds of debris were being ground up in the blades and shrapnel was flying everywhere…

I ran for it! I had done what I wanted and now would see what would come from it. Was I stupid or not? That is my question for myself…

I got back to the place where we came in and found Dogg and Ben looking at me as if I was some crazy fool that came from another planet. Ben said, “What now?”

I looked down the right sided tunnel and pointed that way! I knew for some reason that this tunnel would lead to the other side of the generator. That I assumed would allow us to get out. The water had to exit somewhere…

I went first and Ben and Dogg stayed away from me for the time being. I really don’t blame them, I must have looked like a maniac cutting chains with a machete… 🙂

The tunnels were lit up very well and we could see all details now. There was huge power cables running along the walls and we found side doors that were all locked and would have to be looked at in the future. But right now we were in the mood to get out and see who closed the trap door on us and also to see what was happening with all this power being produced. I could just feel the whole building coming to life as we walked. The secretes of the Old Power Plant were waking up and coming out of a deep sleep. Something told me that this was no Old Power Plant in reality but an old government installation that was converted. But that is later and now to get out of this well lit dungeon…

We walked around another bend in the tunnel and came upon the river again. This time we were on the opposite side and the wind was like a tornado as it pushed us toward an unknown destination. Hopefully out…

We ended up seeing daylight and as we walked the wind died back and the water took on a slower pace. The tunnel got wider and taller! Then we stepped out into the bright sunlight as the water fell into a huge hole in the ground, lined with concrete. Never to be seen again by us…

All I could wonder was if we fell in that hole?

From the end of the tunnel we could hear the generator howling like a banshee, but the noise was contained by the distance that we were from the source. The only way out from here was up and we started to climb, back the way that we came except on top the ground this time…

We could feel the vibration of the generator even all the way on the surface. It is hard to explain but this generator is huge. I would say it was 20 meters across and must have weighed hundreds of tons of solid steel. It was the damndest thing I ever saw and I still do not know what possessed me to cut it loose. That is a good thought, “What possessed me?”

After about a half hour of walking, we came upon our Old Power Plant and walked around to the front door. The door was completely ripped off the building and if you saw the door you would realize that something really big and tough took that door off. This door was like, well nuke proof…

Something was inside the building and from what I could hear it was not happy. Dogg looked at me as I looked at Ben. I said get ready because we are going to take our home back…

Part 3 – next up…

Home Sweet Home is a Old Power Plant…

*** Next article is more tuned toward an explanation about the place were Dogg and I live now. We had a good Christmas and have a very safe and secure home. It is bomb proof and no Zombies around… ***

Looks like I should explain our living conditions a little better. I have been very busy because Dogg and I have had to clean up a huge mess of Zombies that were trapped inside this old power plant that we call a home now…

I pulled some strings and got permanent residence of this old underground power plant that is built like a fortress. Dogg and I set up an old office area as a home and reenforced the walls and doors of the office equivalent to a bank vault. I decided that I do not want to be surprised again by baby, spider or any Zombie for that matter…

Now I am not saying that the old power plant is not built like a fortress but a little assurance is always good and after the last month, I think it is necessary anymore…

Here is some pictures of what it looks like…

Inside...
The front door...

We now have a new desktop computer and even got ourselves a TV to watch. Dogg got new titanium teeth after the last ones got dissolved by the Spider Zombie and he is very happy now. Dogg likes his shiny titanium teeth and I find them useful to crunch Zombie necks…

I also have restocked my weapons because we lost everything due to so many battles with the Zombies. I was down to just one usable machete and that just was not going to cut the mustard…

So I picked up another 444 Marlin Lever action, two Mexican Brush Machetes and I ordered a two handed Cold Steel Chinese War Sword. I can’t wait for that one. I had it made specially with a ceramic blade that is suppose to be impervious to anything and permanently deadly sharp …

I also got Dogg a new set of body armor and titanium claws for his feet. I also picked him up a chew toy that looks like a dead chicken, so that he could make it squeak as he played. So Dogg is one happy dog…

It took days to clean everything up and Dogg and I had to drag the bodies outside and burn them. Hundreds of Zombies take a long time to burn. That is why I have not written for awhile…

We also had lots of workers in and out rebuilding the wiring and plumbing in the old power plant. We also had as I said the office area built like a fortress and now as I type this Dogg is sleeping with his chicken toy and I am sitting at my new desk writing this article…

I have to say something though! I thought everything is under control around the power plant but I keep hearing a deep rumble from under the power plant. It is not bad but it is definitely from under the power plant. I have got to explore the lower levels better and see if there is one last door that we have not discovered. I really do not want to deal with more Zombies sneaking up on me at night or in the day for that matter…

So we are caught up to date and I will try to do a better job keeping things updated. I will say that Dogg and I see a lot of signs of Zombies out about the town and I am suspecting that the new mayor of our city is a Leader Zombie and if he is then that could be a real issue…

Until next time…
